Foveate collects nothing about you. There is no account, no telemetry, and no licence server. This page is short because there is very little to say.
The index — file names, paths, attributes, extracted text and a 512-byte snippet per file — is written to ~/Library/Application Support/Foveate and never sent anywhere. Your search queries are never transmitted, logged remotely, or retained beyond the moment they are answered.
Three, all optional:
foveate.dfacto.ai/updates/latest.json, and compares the version in it against the one you are running. The request is a plain download of a static file: it carries no version number, no identifier, no licence key and nothing about your machine. Your server logs would show an IP address and nothing else, which is true of loading this page. Turn it off in Sources, or with fov update --set off. The CLI never checks at all — it updates through Homebrew.Your licence is a signed token verified offline. Activating it makes no network request at all.
Payment is handled by a merchant of record, who receives your email and payment details in order to sell you the licence and meet their tax obligations. We receive your email address and an order id so we can re-issue a licence key if you lose it. We do not receive your card details.
Static files, no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels. There is one third-party request: a styling library loaded from a CDN, which is JavaScript and runs in your browser. It sets nothing and reports nothing.
Questions, or a request to delete the email address attached to your order: founder@dfacto.ai.
